Art Collecting in Early Modern Times: J. W. Valvasor and O. F. Buchheim

The reseach into art collections of the early modern era in Carniola, based on new methodological approach, concentrates on two paramount personalities, Johann Weichard Valvasor and Otto Friedrich Buchheim. The facsimile edition of the Valvasor Print Collection, with a trilingual critical commentary in the catalogue of all prints, will secure it an excellent place in European and world science, whereas the works in the one-time Buchheim art collection, which will beyond doubt prove to be of wider European importance, will hopefully be identified in various European collections through the investigation as proposed in this project.
